Surat 8 August : the sitting MLA of the BJP and former minister of state for health Kishor Kanani, has claimed that Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) employees have not been functioning properly and haven’t delivered in the past 25 years.The MLA for the Varachha Assembly constituency shared a couple of newspaper clippings on his Twitter account on Sunday.
He stated, “Have got fed up with typical bureaucratic responses from the bureaucracy over the last 25 years.We don’t need promises or promises but actual results.Why are you tearing down homes in the name of road construction? Every year, the same roads are destroyed in rain, so why is there no solution to the issue.”
He expressed his concerns in the city coordination committee’s meeting on Saturday.Kanani had even suggested in the committee meeting that SMC officers were working hand-in-glove with the encroachers, and that roads or service roads usage was not as efficient.
There was no response from Kumar Kanani, nor Surat Mayor Hemali Boghawala, SMC Standing Committee chairman Paresh Patel, or Surat Mayor Hemali Boghawala, SMC Standing Committee IANS questions.
“Now he is blaming officers for their failures because the Assembly elections are near, he is representing Varachha constituency in the last three terms, he was minister in the cabinet of the state, but was he sleeping all these years?” claimed Dharmesh Bhanderi the leader of the Opposition in the SMC.
Bhanderi also claimed that until recent, the same Kanani was proud of the “development” that has occurred in the past two decades.”What is happening now? All of an sudden Kanani has been making accusations against officers.Do he worry about losing in the upcoming elections or is he having doubts that he might not be nominated by his party.”
