New Delhi, Aug 6 : Delhi Police has issued an FIR to Congress party members who were accused of obstructing and harming police officers during their protest marches in the capital city of the nation according to an official on Saturday.
“We have filed an FIR in accordance with sections 186 (Obstructing public servants in the discharge of public duties) and 1888 (Disobedience to an order properly issued by public servants) 332 (voluntarily inflicting injury to deter public servants from performing his duties) 34 (common intent),” a senior Delhi Police official told IANS.

The Congress party on Friday held an all-over protest over the policies of the Central government that has caused a the rise in rates of unemployment as well as inflation in the country.

As as many as Congress lawmakers including Rahul Gandhi were detained in the Vijay Chowk, close to Parliament, while in total , 335 protesters were arrested pursuant to Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act in order to ensure peace and security in the region.

Special Commissioner of Police, L & O Division Dr Sagar Preet Hooda informed that the Congress party had protested at several places of New Delhi, including Akbar Road, Vijay Chowk and Jantar Mantar.

He stated that protesters were properly informed of the prohibitory orders in the area in the area.

They were repeatedly urged to leave the area, but they continued to protest, in violation of the prohibitory order under section 144 of the CrPC.

“When the police officers were brought in to control the situation, protesters tried to block the officers from carrying out their duties, slapped them and even injured them” Hooda said.
