“In July, Twitter sued the Indian government to contest orders requiring it to delete content and block hundreds of accounts.” tweets New York Times reporter Kate Conger.

“Musk is not happy with this, claiming it could harm one of Twitter’s biggest markets, and recommending Twitter should adhere to local laws in India,” Conger added.

Twitter has recently filed a petition in into the Karnataka High Court against the Indian government’s decision to take off certain content on its platform on the basis that the blocking of content orders issued by the IT Ministry do not pass “the test of the grounds set out in Section 69A of the IT Act”.

Twitter claimed in its petition for writ of petition that several accounts and the content that are included in the block orders are “overbroad and unjustifiable” and do not provide an explanation to the “originators” of the content as well as being “disproportionate” in several cases.

The Musk countersuit claimed that “in 2021 the Indian information technology ministry has imposed rules that allow the government to investigate social media content, demand the identifying information of users, and also the companies who refuse to adhere to the rules”.

Musk said that the micro-blogging platform should respect “laws of countries in which Twitter operates”.

Twitter responded to Musk’s claims and said it “respectfully refers to the Court for their complete and accurate content” and denied Musk’s claims.

Musk stated Musk claimed that Twitter “did not inform Musk of the lawsuit it filed against the Indian government” thus putting the third-largest market for the company “at at risk”.

Twitter responded, saying that its actions in India are in accordance with its “global practice” of challenging government requests or laws.

Twitter has brought Musk’s billionaire pals as well with Tesla in the legal fight, which will begin on the 17th of October.

Twitter asserts that Musk signed an agreement to purchase the company and is using fake accounts as a cover to revoke the deal.
