West Indies bowling coach Roddy Estwick is named the lead coach assistant of Barbados Royals

Bridgetown (Barbados) August 5 : Caribbean Premier League (CPL) team Barbados Royals on Friday revealed that West Indies assistant and bowling coach Roddy Estwick has been selected as the assistant coach in charge for the team ahead of the beginning of the season that is scheduled to begin from August 30 until September 30.
The Barbados-based team has previously revealed Trevor Penney as the head coach.

Apart from Estwick’s appointment the former Jamaican sprinter Andrew Richardson will continue to remain with the team, in two roles of team manager as well as assistant coach.

Barbados Royals will be benefiting from its partner franchise Rajasthan Royals’ runners-up finish in the IPL 2022 season, with Sid Lahiri, the Director of Academy Coaching of the Royals as an Assistant Coach during the CPL 2022 season.

He is along with Panish Shetty, who will be the team’s analyst.Panish has been involved with the Rajasthan Royals as part of their analytics setup, as well as AT Rajamani, whose role as Strength and Conditioning Coach is expected to be extended to the Barbados Royals as well.

The Barbados-based team have hired Neil Barry as physiotherapist, Sharon Coppin as the team’s massage therapist.They will also have the knowledge of Giles Lindsay, the Royals chief of analytics and technology.

The coaches who will lead the team will be assisted by Kumar Sangakkara, Royals’ director of cricket and Zubin Bharucha who is the strategy development, performance and development director during the course of the season.

“We are extremely pleased to have secured a skilled and knowledgeable group of coaches for the forthcoming season of the CPL.At the Royals we aim to establish an overall coaching structure that extends beyond the CPL, with the likes of Trevor, Sid, Giles, Panish and Rajamani who have gained vast experience and have performed admirably as a team in the IPL earlier in the year.

“These coaches, paired with the ability local understanding and knowledge of the environment that are possessed by Roddy, Andrew, Neil and Sharon along with their long-standing relationship with the CPL and Barbados will make up the coaching team in 2022’s football season.We’re delighted to have them joining us and are looking forward to achieving our goals for the coming season,” said Sangakkara in an official statement.

Barbados Royals, to be led by South African’s David Miller, will kickstart their CPL 2022 season on September 1st, when they will play St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at the Warner Park Stadium, in Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis on September 1.
