Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of the State, presided over a special meeting that decided to enforce night curfew between 10 p.m.and 5 a.m.on December 30 through January 2.Also, curfew was imposed in all beaches in the state where maximum numbers gather for the new year.
The Kerala Police issued a directive to all residents that they should leave the Kovalam beach by 8:30 on Friday.At the Kozhikode beaches, police began turning away persons from 5.30 pm.

Steve, a Swedish tourist from Sweden was stopped at Kovalam Beach by police.He was required to reveal whether he had any liquor in his bag.The police stopped him after he showed his liquor bottle and complied.
Angrily, the tourist opened the glass and poured the contents.The tourist also expressed concern about the environment by putting the empty plastic liquor bottles back into his bag instead of throwing them on the ground.
The entire scene was captured on a camera, and it has since gone viral.
Police have also made arrangements for those that drink publically to be prosecuted.
Those who are caught drunk driving will receive fines.
Veena George, State Health Minister has requested that all people ensure there is no violation of Covid protocols.
She also suggested that N95 masks be worn to maintain social distancing and avoid going out on the streets.
