Tel Aviv 29 December : .Israel faces an unprecedented wave of Covid-19 pandemic, according to Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.Bennett told Kan Bet Radio, Xinhua’s news agency that “we are going to experience very high levels infections”
He said that the Omicron variety is “unusually contagious.”
The Prime Minister stated that “We are just a few moments away from a blizzard infected, it will happen, and we can’t prevent it.”
These remarks were made as the cabinet implemented stricter restrictions including the imposition of the green pass scheme for large shops.
Only vaccinated persons are allowed to access certain public places under the scheme.
Israel is home to 9.2 million people and faces the fifth wave in the Omicron-related pandemic.
According to Israel’s Health Ministry, 623 Omicron cases were reported in the past 24 hours.
According to the ministry, there are now 1,741 Omicron cases in Israel.1,004 Omicron cases were passengers from overseas.
Omicron has infected eight people.
One of these patients is currently in critical condition, as he wasn’t vaccinated.
A woman aged 84 who received three doses Covid-19 vaccinations was also reported by the Ministry.Omicron was believed to have infected her.
The Omicron variant also was found in 19 locations across Israel.
Israel reported 1,371,007 Covid deaths and 8243 cases since the outbreak of the pandemic early 2020.
