Chennai, 28 December : .The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission has been criticized for including Tamil language in exams for Group II and Group II government positions.There are many job seekers competing for the few prestigious positions in the Tamil Nadu Group I or II.Recently, the state Public Service Commission revised these exam syllabuses.All aspirants to Group I, II and IIA must pass a Tamil language paper.
Candidates in Group 1 must only appear in Tamil for the main stage.
Group II candidates and IIA applicants will need to sit for both the preliminary examinations and the main exam.Many candidates are fuming that the TNPSC recently updated the syllabus after the exams were announced in 2019.
K.Kirubhakaran is a Madurai-based computer science engineer who spoke to IANS.
He said that he had been studying hard for the exam since 2019.However, the PSC made some changes.
They now include Tamil language.This includes Tamil literature and Tamil poetry, of which I don’t have much knowledge.
For job seekers, this has been a shocker.
After the resolution passed by the state Assembly during its last session, the TNPSC made Tamil language compulsory.
This means that applicants for state services jobs will have to pass a Tamil language test.

A revised group I and II scheme consists of an initial exam that includes general Tamil or English studies and an aptitude paper worth 300 marks.
Main examination will have one general study paper of 300 marks.A Tamil paper will take 100 marks.This paper will serve as qualifying paper.
TNPSC stated in a not that only candidates who pass the language exam or get a minimum score of 40 points will be considered for the main examination papers.
