Jhansi/Lucknow 26 Dec : .Thousands of girls rallied and shouted slogans even though the Congress had cancelled permission to hold the Mahala marathon in Jhansi.The girls in Jhansi refused to go home and were stopped by the police.
The Congress announced Sunday marathons in Lucknow for women as part of the ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ campaign that focuses on Uttar Pradesh women.
The scooty was to be given to the first three marathon winners.Those who came fourth through 25th in each race would get a phone.
Mamata Choudhary (president of Uttar Pradesh Congress’s Women wing) stated that the first 100 would be awarded fitness bands and the 1,000 next women would receive medals.
Although the entry age was set at 16-years, there were no fees.
