Chennai, December 25, : , Raghava Lawrence, actor and director, has announced that he would donate Rs 8 lakh to Parvathi ammal.This is the person whose life was the basis for critically-acclaimed courtroom drama “Jai Bhim”.Raghava had previously announced that he would construct a home for Parvathi Ammal’s family.However, Raghava has now said that, in light of Tamil Nadu government’s announcement that they would be building a house, he will instead give Rs 8 lakh.
Raghava stated, “I had made a promise to build Parvathi Ammal a home after learning about her poor and desperate situation through the media.In this context, I met her personally.
I was asked by her to construct a home for her in Keela Naththam, Ariyalur.She informed me her daughter owned land in the village Keela Naththam.
After visiting the site, we were ready to start building it when we learned that Tamil Nadu had decided to give her a house.
M.K., Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, I congratulate her and extend my deepest gratitude.Stalin, for offering to help her build a house after learning about her poverty.
In the light of these developments, I decided to increase the amount of Rs 3 lakh I already had earmarked to build her a home.
I will present Rs 8 lakh total to her.Parvathi Ammal, her children and I will each present Rs 2 lakh to them.”
