Kovilpatti, Tamil Nadu Dec 25, (IANS Hockey Chandigarh) Hockey Chandigarh (Uttar Pradesh Hockey) won in two different styles and advanced to the final of Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2021.Hockey Chandigarh beat Hockey Unit of Odisha 8-3 in tiebreak shootout, while Uttar Pradesh Hockey defeated Hickey Haryana 8-3 to win the semi-finals.
This set up an exciting clash for the title.
The first semifinal was between Hockey Association of Odisha (HAO) and Hockey Chandigarh.
After 60 minutes, the match finished at 2-2.Hockey Chandigarh won the shootout with a convincing 3-0 victory.
Sudeep Chirmako (11) gave Hockey Association of Odisha a lead.Hockey Chandigarh responded in quick succession with Raman (18) and Rahul (17) goals in the second quarter.
Prasant Lakra scored a goal for Hockey Association of Odisha at 37 minutes.The match continued to the shootout, which determined a winner.
In stark contrast, the second semifinal saw Uttar Pradesh Hockey win 8-3 over Hockey Haryana.Junior World Cupper Sharda Tiwari (16′, 17′, and 28′) was the top scorer at the tournament, scoring yet another hat trick on the big platform.
Arun Sahani added another hat trick (31′ 35′ 47′), and Uttam Sing (23′, 23′, 60′) to his efforts.Pankaj was able to score a treble in Hockey Haryana’s 38′, 43’, and 60+’ but it wasn’t enough to stop Uttar Pradesh Hockey.
