All began with Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Singh Sisodia visiting a Chakalan primary school. He was then followed by another visit Makrauna Kalan, the village of Charanjit Singh Channi who is Chief Minister in his Chamkaur Sahib Assembly.

Sisodia also held the Delhi education portfolio and saw the deteriorating condition of schools. He said that the Punjab government is lying if it claims to be the best and that they have the best education system.

Pargat Singh, the Punjab Education Minister, got into an argument with him over the matter, challenging the latter in 24 hours to list 250 schools that had undergone significant reforms, including improved curriculum and teacher training programs, and which showed better results under the Congress regime.

The AAP leader said that the Punjab minister has the right “to know about the Congress party’s contributions in education in the State in the past five years.” However, the Punjab minister failed to release the list to the Delhi-based party, giving them an opportunity to criticize the government.

The AAP-led Delhi government, which came to power in Delhi in 2015.

In 2015 it claimed that the Delhi education system has been transformed. In 2016, the pass rate for grade 12 CBSE students in Delhi was 84.9 percent. It rose to 88.1 percent in 2017, and then jumped from 90.6 percentage in 2018, to 94.24% in 2019, to 97.8 percent in July 2020.The government schools in Delhi saw a 5.9% increase in their results compared to private schools.

Manish Sisodia repeatedly stated to media that they achieved great results by improving school infrastructure and investing in quality education. They also sent teachers to Cambridge University to learn more about teaching.

This opened up their eyes to global perspectives and allowed them to see the value of giving training.

On November 27, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kehriwal arrived in Mohali to meet contractual teachers. They were protesting the regularisation and demanded that he “form government in Punjab like Delhi when AAP forms government.” He further claimed that Akali Dal had ten years and Congress eight years respectively in government, and neither of them did anything for teachers.

Eight promises were made by the AAP national convener to teachers, promising them that they would change the future of Punjab through good governance. They were promised that all outsourced and contract teachers would cease to exist once he was in power.

Kejriwal told them that if the Channi government doesn’t accept demands from striking teachers then he would join them in the dharna.Kejriwal promised that the transparent Punjab transfer policy would be in place and all teachers would be able to work abroad.

Teachers will also be able to receive cashless healthcare and promotion policies.

AAP MLA Raghavchadha (also the party’s Punjab Co-in Charge) claimed that illegal sandmining was taking place in Chamkaur Sahib under patronage of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit S Singh Channi.

Along with an illegal sand miner’s live video, he tweeted: “Illegal Sand Mining in Charanjit Singh Chaney’s Constituency has been Exposed.” This is the most shocking expose that will shake up Punjabi politics.

We are located in Jindapur, which is within the constituency Chamkaur Sahib of chief minister.Openly, illegal sand mining takes place here.It said that illegal sand transport in trucks is taking place.”

Chadha also sent a note to the forest officer November 22.Rajwant Singh, Forest Range officer had informed Sri Chamkaur Sahib, Sub Divisional Magistrate about illegal mining activity in CM Charanjit Chaney’s constituency. He tweeted that Rajwant Singh received his transfer orders, although there was no immediate action against the Sand Mafia.

Chadha on Friday said that the AAP will reward Rs 25,000 to the Punjab Chief Minister if he acts against every site where illegal sand mining is being done as he has complete information about the whereabouts of illegal mining in his state.

In response, Charanjit Singh Channi attacked Arvind Kejriwal by calling him a “power greedy outsider”, who wants to rule the state and accused him of misleading the people of Punjab.”AAP supremo has little knowledge about the state and he was groping in the dark for fulfilling his lust of power,” he added.

Channi had also retweeted a blurred letter in Gurumukhi on his Twitter account saying that AAP can spread as many lies as it wants, but people of Punjab know the truth.

Illegal sand mining has become a major political issue in Punjab along with the problem of liquor, and in view of this the Congress government recently introduced “Mission Clean”.

Earlier this year, a Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader too had captured the act of illegal sand mining in a Facebook live post that showed trucks loading sand at the Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant.

The opposition party had blamed Congress leader and State Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal and his brother-in-law Jaijeet Singh Johal of being involved in illegal sand mining.
