Los Angeles, November 23, : .An arbitrator ordered Kevin Spacey’s companies and MRC to make nearly $31,000,000 to MRC.MRC is the production company behind the OTT political thriller series titled ‘House of Cards.’ The decision was made after Spacey violated the company’s policy against sexual harassment.After multiple victims alleged a pattern in sexually preying conduct, MRC ended its relationship with Spacey.
MRC submitted a petition to the Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, in order to confirm the arbitrator’s award.It was approved in a confidential appeal.
Spacey, his M.Profitt Productions company and Trigger Street Productions company were ordered to pay $29.5million in damages, $1.2 million for attorneys fees, and $235,000 costs.
According to “Variety”, Spacey was one of the first Hollywood stars to be indicted in connection with the Harvey Weinstein scandal that occurred in October 2017.
CNN reported on November 2nd 2017 that Spacey, the show’s star and executive producer of House of Cards, had made crude remarks and engaged in unconsensual touching of male staffers.They cited eight sources.
MRC stated that it did not know of Spacey’s alleged misconduct on set prior to CNN’s report.
