New Delhi, Nov 23 : London-based consumer technology brand Nothing on Tuesday revealed the names of celebrity investors from India for its latest funding round of $50 million, which includes film producer-director Karan Johar, cricketer-turned-entrepreneur Yuvraj Singh and fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee.Ranveer Allabadia, a digital content creator and Jasleen Roy, a music composer-singer have joined the board.
The market needs a fresh player who can bring enthusiasm back into the consumer tech field.”We are thrilled that our Indian strategic and private investors feel the same way and share our mission,” stated Manu Sharma (VP and General Manager at Nothing India).
He said, “In 2021, we launched Nothing ear (1), one of our most anticipated products in tech,” and that this was just the beginning.
In October, nothing raised $50 Million from private and strategic investors.Qualcomm collaborated to support its future products.
Nothing was founded by Carl Pei (OnePlus founder), and launched their first product, ‘ear(1)’ TWS earbuds in August for Rs 5,999.
Within two months it had shipped more than 100,000 units.
According to the startup, the money will be used for research and development as preparation for its entry in new product categories.
Nothing can be considered a private company without backing by GV (formerly Google Ventures), and other investors such as Tony Fadell (Principal of Future Shape & inventor the iPod), Casey Neistat, YouTube personality and co-founder at Beme), Kevin Lin and Steve Huffman (Cofounder and CEO at Reddit).
