Haritha Haram: Temperature drop by 6 degrees in Suryapet

With the successful implementation of the Telangana Chief Minister KCR‌’s Haritha Haram program, summer temperatures in the Suryapet district have dropped 6 degrees Celsius with the plantation of six crore plants in seven phases of the Haritha Haram program, the Meteorological Department said.

The Suryapet district had previously recorded a maximum temperature of 50 degrees Celsius in summer.

But now, the temperature had never exceeded 44 degrees.While the Suryapet district has 6,19,989 acres of land, before 2014, there were no forests even on 10,000 acres.With the successful implementation of the seven phases of the Haritha Haram program, Suryapet currently has 67,477 acres of forest land.

2.17 crore plant saplings were planted in 27,650 acres of forest land in the district.Plants are planted along 7,106 km, including villages, towns, national highways and internal roads.

With the increase in the forest cover, the Suryapet district is receiving rain on time.Also, the temperatures are dropping.

Haritha Haram has become a successful program in the district with the participation of public representatives, officials, employees as well as the public.Currently, the process of identifying land at the rate of ten acres and setting up mega nature parks in all the 23 zones of the district is in progress.
