There are ample opportunities for fish production in Telangana and the state will soon reach the level of exporting fish, said Boinapalli Vinodkumar, vice-president of the State Planning Commission.He discussed various issues with the Fisheries Science students who met him in Hyderabad recently.
The meeting was attended by student Union president Prabhakar, Ramesh, Murali, Shravya, Priyanka and others.
Vinod Kumar said that the irrigation issues that arose in the joint Andhra Pradesh state were resolved after the emergence of Telangana.
With the completion of various irrigation projects in Telangana by the TRS govt, water sources are filled with ample water.He said that the opportunities for fish production increased tremendously in Telangana.
He recalled that the free baby fishes distribution scheme undertaken by the government had yielded good results.
Speaking on this occasion, he said that currently, 90 crore fish are being released into the water resources and it will be doubled in the future.
He said measures would be taken to produce fish seeds locally.He said the services of Fisheries graduates and diploma students would be utilized to further increase fish production.
