CSK vs KXIP, IPL 2020: Chennai Super Kings back with a bang!

Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis registered second-highest opening partnership in IPL.Chennai Super Kings are back with a bang! Shane Watson 83 (53), and Faf du Plessis 87 (53) smashed Kings XI Punjab bowlers for a 10-wicket win and recorded the second-highest opening partnership in the IPL history.

Earlier Gautam Gambhir and Chris Lynn did that for KKR at Rajkot in 2017.Both the openers of CSK chased down the 179-run target with 2.2 more overs to spare.At first, KXIP captain won the toss and opted to bat first.

Both the openers, Mayank Agarwal 26 (19) and KL Rahul 63 (52), struggled initially to get the runs as CSK bowlers stuck to strict line and length.But after settling, both the openers fired and registered 61 runs for the first wicket in 8 overs before Mayank fell for Sam Curran.

Except Pooran 33 (17), With not so powerful but sensible batting, KXIP batsmen have put up 178 for 4 in 20 overs, which is defendable considering CSK’s previous performance in IPL 2020.However, the change in the opening pair has worked in Chennai’s favour, and both Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis have given nostalgic feeling to all the Chennai fans.

Both batsmen never struggled against KXIP bowlers and smashed fours and sixes at their will ending to their 3-match losing streak in IPL 2020.Shane Watson has received the Man of the Match award.

With this emphatic win, CSK raked to 6th place in the points table while KXIP fell to the last place.
