New Delhi, Aug 11 : A total of 24 coal mines in the country reported 100 percent production in the month of July as the production of coal increased by 11.37 percent up to 60.42 million tonnes (MT) officials announced on Thursday.According to the preliminary figures of the Ministry of Coal, during July of this year, Coal India Ltd (CIL), Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) and captive mines/others recorded an increase of 11.12 percent and 44.37 percent by producing 47.33 tonnes and 9.80 MT of coal, respectively.
But, SCCL registered a negative growth of 32.51 percent over the month.
Of the top 37 coal mines the output of 24 mines was higher than 100 percent in July of this year.Seven mines’ output was between 80 and 100 per cent.
Then the coal despatch grew by 8.51 percent to 67.81 MT from 62.49 MT in July 2022 when in comparison to last year.
In July 2022 CIL and captive mines/others recorded growth of 8.17 percent and 40.78 per cent , after dispatching 54.54 and 9.91 MT, respectively.
The power utilities’ dispatch has increased by 17.09 percent to 58.45 millimetres in July of this year, in comparison to 49.92 MT in July 2021 as a result of an growth in the demand for power.
Coal-based power generation recorded an increase of 4.76 percent in the month of July in 2022.The power generation in July 2022 was 4.29 percent higher than in July 2021.
