New Delhi, Aug 6 : The election for Vice President to be held on the weekend will be a battle between NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankar and Opposition candidate Margaret Alva.
As the number increases in favor of the NDA candidate, Alva, a senior politician, has pushed for an informed vote.

Voting will start in Parliament House complex and MPs will cast their votes.

The Vice President is chosen by an electoral college comprised of lawmakers of both houses of Parliament in keeping with the principle of proportional representation through the use of one vote transferable and voting in this election is done through secret ballots.

The Electoral College to elect a person to the post of Vice President is comprised of each member of both houses of Parliament.

The Vice President isn’t the or a member of any House of Parliament or of the House of a Legislature of any state.

If an elected Member of one House of Parliament or of a House of a Legislature of any state is elected Vice-President, he is deemed to have been removed from his seat in the respective House at the time that when he/she assumes the office of Vice-President.
