Telangana : Congress offers 1,000 Nominated Posts to disgruntled leaders

In a bid to soothe internal disagreements, the Congress party is offering 1,000 appointed positions to leaders who dont receive party backing for the Assembly elections, should the party triumph.

With the first candidate list set to be revealed on October 16, theres concern among the party leadership about potential resentment among those overlooked for tickets.

This is particularly pertinent in constituencies with numerous hopefuls.Aside from the approximately 1,000 existing appointed roles in various sectors, the Congress leadership, if victorious, intends to establish over 50 new organizations focused on the advancement of Backward Classes.

Theyll appoint chairpersons with Cabinet-level status to head these entities.Furthermore, appointments for chairpersons and vice-chairpersons are also slated for District Cooperative Central Banks (DCCBs) and District Cooperative Marketing Societies (DCMS) in each district.

Leaders will also receive nominations to serve on temple boards across the region.Numerous appointments in agricultural market committees are also in the works.

Currently, the party leadership has reached consensus on candidates for only 70 of the total 119 Assembly constituencies.Even in these 70, there are multiple contenders, but the party aims to mollify leaders without tickets through appointed roles.

In the remaining 49 seats, theres intense competition for about 30, with three to four serious contenders in each. The party aims to persuade them to collaborate in securing power for the Congress first.

Later, the party intends to recognize their efforts with appointed roles in the government.Additionally, party leaders who miss out on tickets due to political or caste factors are promised MLC and Rajya Sabha member positions.
