Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India-Australia ties are strong and will continue to be more cordial in the days to come.On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a virtual meeting with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

On this occasion, the two Prime Ministers discussed the Ukraine-Russia war and the Quad Alliance, including friendship and diplomatic issues between the two countries.Another member of the Quad Alliance, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida, said the meeting between the Indian and Australian prime ministers would take place the day after a two – day visit to India.

During a meeting with Australian Prime Minister Morrison, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “The last Virtual Summit between the two countries formalized our relationship as a” comprehensive strategic partnership and I am pleased to be hosting this annual summit today.Modi said the cooperation reflected India’s commitment to safeguarding freedom and integrity in the Indo-Pacific region.

Speaking at the meeting, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison expressed concern over Ukraine’s war with Russia.Russia is said to be responsible for the deaths of civilians in Ukraine.

The quad’s members, India, the United States, Japan and Australia, discussed the Ukraine issue recently, which provided a good opportunity to discuss Ukraine’s influence in the Indo – Pacific region, its aftermath, strengthening ties between member states, and other issues.

Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked Australian Prime Minister Morrison for the recent return of ancient statues stolen from India and brought to Australia by the Australian government.

Modi said the ancient idols, which have a history of hundreds of years, were stolen from India, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and other states and smuggled back to Australia.
