Sonali Phogat’s death: Goa police makes fifth arrest

Panaji 28 August : Goa police on Sunday made the five arrests in the connection with the Sonali Phogat murder case.
“Rama Mandrekar was detained this morning for providing substances to Dattaprasad Gaonkar, who then provided the drug to Sudhir Sangwan (PA of Phogat),” an official from the top of the police said to IANS.

On Saturday, police found the drug known as Methamphetamine that was which Phogat was given in the bathroom of the Curlies restaurant in the area in which she had been drinking.

Based on the confession of the arrested accused Sangwan the drugs allegedly that were given to the deceased were found in the bathroom of the Curlies restaurant.

Initial investigations discovered that the pills were given to Sangwan by Gaonkar who was employed as a roomboy in Hotel Grand Leoney Resort in Anjuna which was which is where Phogat and Sangwan were staying.

Gaonkar was detained on Saturday.

After interrogating him, the police took away Rama Mandrekar from Anjuna for being accused of supplying drugs to Gaonkar.

Phogat arrived in Goa on the 22nd of August.

He was staying in an hotel in Anjuna.

She began to feel uneasy on the night of Monday and the next day she was transported to the St.Anthony hospital in Anjuna where she was declared dead.

Police are still looking into the matter.
