London 21 August : The roads of the UK could have self-driving cars being introduced by 2025 as part of new plans of the government, backed by 100 million pounds ($118 million) investment.Certain vehicles, such as coaches, cars and lorries with self-driving capabilities might be operating on motorways in the coming year and the plans currently in place have been updated to include new legislation that will allow the safer and more widespread introduction of self-driving vehicles in 2025.
“This allows the UK to fully take advantage of the growing market of self-driving vehicles , which could result in 38,000 jobs and be worth up to 42 billion dollars,” the UK government stated in an announcement.
The government’s vision of self-driving cars is supported by an overall amount of 100 million pounds with 34 million pounds verified for research that will help safety advancements and inform specific legislation.
