S.Korea has braces to withstand powerful Tiphoon Hinnamnor

Seoul 5 Sep : Super Typhoon Hinnamnor is slowly moving towards the north to make its way to waters off the southernmost island of Jeju on Monday the official weather agency of the country reported as the country prepares for the strongest storm in history.
At the time of 5 a.m.the typhoon, which was the 11th of this year was located 550 km south-southwest of Jeju’s Seogwipo and was traveling north at a rate of 22 km/h as per the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).

The speed is higher than the earlier estimation of 12 km/h and the typhoon is described as “very strong” and has an average sustained wind speed of 49 meters per second, as reported by Yonhap News Agency citing the KMA as saying.

After passing by Jeju and Jeju, Typhoon Hinnamnor is expected to increase its speed to reach landfall around at a distance of 80km north-northwest of Busan, the southern port city of Busan at 9 a.m.Tuesday, with an atmospheric pressure of 955 hectopascals in its center according to the KMA.

The strength of the typhoon when it arrives at Busan is expected to decrease to “strong” however it is predicted to be the strongest typhoon to ever arrive in South Korea.

Hinnamnor is expected to keep its strength following its passage through the Korean Peninsula, the KMA stated, adding that a severe rain warning is in effect for all areas of the country through Tuesday.

The typhoon may also bring record-breaking wind speeds, with the KMA forecasting maximum speeds of 40-60 meters per second in Jeju and other areas of the lower coast between Monday night between Monday night and Tuesday.
