Telugu superstar Gopichand’s movie ‘Ramabanam’ was released on May 5, 2023, but unfortunately, it didn’t do well at the box office.The film, directed by Sriwass, also featured Jagapathi Babu and Vennela Kishore in important roles.
Despite high expectations and a wide release on 840 screens worldwide, ‘Ramabanam’ fell short.It had a budget of Rs 20 Crore but managed to earn only Rs 14.50 Crore at the box office.The film needed to make Rs 15 Crore to break even but only made Rs 7.1 Crore in international theaters.
Due to its poor performance, no OTT platforms were interested in buying its digital rights initially.
However, a new opportunity arose when the makers of the film ‘BRO,’ featuring Pawan Kalyan and Sai Dharam Tej, struck a deal with Netflix.Since ‘Ramabanam’ was also produced by People Media Factory, Netflix decided to include it in their catalog, and it’s set to be released on September 14.
Previously, director Sriwass and actor Gopichand had collaborated on successful films like ‘Lakshyam’ and ‘Loukyam.’ Fans were eagerly anticipating their third collaboration, but ‘Ramabanam’ disappointed with a weak screenplay and cringe-worthy dialogues and scenes.
The story of ‘Ramabanam’ is penned by Madhusudan Padamati and Bhupathi Raja.Besides the lead actors, the film also features Nassar, Sachin Khedkar, Raja Ravindra, and actress Khushboo in important roles.
The plot revolves around two brothers with different ideologies who must unite to confront a common enemy when their family faces a crisis.
So to sum it up, ‘Ramabanam’ is a Telugu movie starring Gopichand that didn’t perform well at the box office but will now be available on Netflix due to a distribution agreement, disappointing fans who had high hopes for the director-actor duo’s third collaboration.
