Rakul Preet Singh, a popular actress, has mostly worked in various film genres but never tried her hand at horror movies. However, she finally got the opportunity to explore this genre with a film called “Boo.” The director, AL Vijay, approached her during the lockdown in 2020 with a unique concept for a psychological horror-comedy.The movie was shot entirely in a house in Hyderabad, making it an experimental project.
“Boo” has both Tamil and Telugu versions, and the Hindi version was recently released on JioCinema. The story revolves around Singh’s character, Kiara, who experiences spine-chilling events during a Halloween celebration with her friends.
The eerie incidents begin to occur after they start reading a book on supernatural occurrences.Unlike her previous films, shooting for this spooky flick was a different experience for Singh.
However, she found it exhilarating because the story had comedic elements intertwined with the horror.
Singh confesses that she has always been intrigued by horror comedies and was excited to explore this genre.
The film’s narrative unfolds over the course of one night, with multiple storylines intertwining.Although Singh enjoyed her first brush with horror, she admits that she prefers horror-comedies over pure horror films.
If she comes across another good horror-comedy script, she would gladly take on the role.
As a viewer, Singh enjoys watching scary movies and finds pleasure in the thrills and jump scares they offer. She mentions having seen movies like “Paranormal Activity” and “The Exorcist” (released in 1973).Singh reveals that she was never a fearful child, which she attributes to being the daughter of a military officer.
Fortunately, she hasn’t encountered any supernatural events in real life, and she wishes to maintain it that way with a playful grin.
