RajaGopal Reddy expecting ticket in Congress second list

The Congress party is poised to unveil its second list of candidates, encompassing 35-45 names, for the upcoming Telangana state Assembly elections.

This announcement is expected on Friday, following deliberations led by party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and the central election committee.

Former MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, who recently switched from the BJP, is set to formally join the Congress on Friday.He is vying for a ticket from Munugode and has also expressed interest in contesting against Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao in Gajwel, in addition to Munugode.The initial list of 55 candidates was disclosed on October 15, prompting the screening committee, chaired by MP K.Muraleedharan, to convene multiple times at the residence of AICC general secretary K.C.Venugopal in Delhi.The purpose was to fine-tune the second list of candidates.TPCC chief A.Revanth Reddy, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and MP N.Uttam Kumar Reddy actively participated in these discussions.The top leaders also participated in the CEC meetings over the past week, scrutinizing the candidates shortlisted by the screening committee.

While some concerns were raised, the CEC referred the list back for further consideration.On Thursday, the screening committee revisited the list and referred it to the CEC, which will convene on Friday due to prior commitments of Sonia Gandhi.

According to party sources, the second list will be made public on Friday, while the third and final list will be released by November 2.Following this, the filing of nominations for the Assembly polls is slated to commence on November 3.The allocation of two seats each to CPI and CPM is still under discussion, with a final decision expected during the CEC meeting on Friday.
