An artist made a portrait of Olympic gold medallist Balbir Singh Senior with hockey & ball at sector-42 hockey stadium, on his 97th birth anniversary yesterday.Varun Tandon said, “I want to show that he was a hero & also want to spread awareness about sports.”

The Portrait was taken place in the Hockey Stadium in Chandigarh.Varun Tando did quite a lot of hard, in the end, it was portrayed beautifully.

Balbir Singh was one of the members who won the gold medals in 1948, 1952, and 1956 Olympic games.He happened to be winning three gold medals and a Silver medal in 1958 in Tokyo Asian Games.

The Hockey India team had tweeted the special gesture on this birth anniversary.Can you imagine using a hockey stick and ball and move them like a paintbrush? 🤔 This 23 by 15 feet portrait was made in the loving memory of Late Mr.@balbir_senior Senior who devoted his life for the betterment of hockey.Hats off to the creativity of Mr.Varun Tandon! 👏.

He Conferred the Padma Shri award in 1957 and Best Sikh hocket player.Balbir Singh passes away on 25 May 2020, at the age of 96.
