The repatriation of Indians stranded in Ukraine is ongoing.As part of Operation Ganga, the central government is taking Indians on special flights across the border with Ukraine.
So far 11 thousand Indians have arrived in India from Ukraine border countries in 50 flights.Also on Saturday (March 5) another 15 flights will arrive in India from the Ukrainian border.
Of these, 11 were civilian aircraft and four were air force aircraft.A total of 2,200 Indians will be repatriated by air from Ukraine.
The Center is all set to evacuate about a thousand Indians stranded in Kharkiv and Sumi to India safely.Sumi is a small city in northeastern Ukraine, near the eastern Russian border.
It is about 50 kilometers from the Russian border.The borders of Poland, Hungary and Romania are located 1200 to 1500 km west of the city of Sumi.
Arrangements are being made to repatriate Indians stranded in the cities of Sumi and Kharkiv to Russia as soon as possible, the State Department said in a statement.
Russia, on the other hand, accuses Indians trapped during the war in Ukraine of being held hostage on their way home.
Ukraine, however, accuses Russia of taking Indian civilians hostage.The two countries are blaming each other.
In this context, Indian citizens are facing serious difficulties in reaching home.
In coordination with the Embassy of India, the Central Government has taken all necessary steps to repatriate Indian nationals stranded in those countries.
Operation Ganga is repatriating Indians stranded on special flights.For this, the Union Ministers themselves are going there and overseeing the process of evacuation of Indian citizens.
