Lausanne : , The 10th Olympic Summit was convened Saturday by the International Olympic Committee *IOC.It expressed serious concern over FIFA’s proposal for a biennial World Cup as well as the effect on the global sport events calendar.

The Summit noted that until Saturday there had been no information or consultation with any other International Federations, Continental Associations of NOCs, nor the IOC.It also pointed out the importance of all sport having an opportunity to develop and promote their own sports for the greater good of the global sporting landscape.The Summit heard from attendees that they were concerned about FIFA’s proposals for a biennial World Cup, and how it would affect the global sport events calendar.”It was pointed out that there had not been any consultation or information with the IOC, other IFs, Continental Associations of NOCs, nor the IOC,” IOC stated in a release.Gianni Infantino was an invitee.He explained that FIFA’s ongoing discussions were much more extensive than a biennial World Cup and that only preliminary results have been presented.These are still being discussed within FIFA.He expressed his willingness to meet with the Olympic Movement during these meetings.

The Summit welcomed the World Anti-Doping Agenc’ (WADA)’s wide-ranging governance reforms that were agreed by its Foundation Board last month.These reforms will increase the representation within WADA of athletes, independent members and National Anti-Doping Organisations, while also maintaining the unique and successful 50-50 partnership between the sports movement and governments of the world.

This latest round of reforms will ensure t’at WADA’s governance model is effective and reflects international best practice.bsk
