San Francisco, Aug 28 : Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that Musk’s Neuralink is not likely to be widely utilized for the next between 10 and 15 years as “normal people” are not likely to want to have a technology that isn’t mature implanted in their brains.In an interview with The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Zuckerberg joked that he believes that “normal people” are unlikely to want to have a Neuralink implant until technology is developed as reported by Teslarati.
“Normal people, I believe, in the next 10 or 15 years are likely not going to be looking to have something installed in their brains to have fun,” Zuckerberg was quoted as saying.
“You want the more mature version of this and not the one that says it’s going to be better in the coming year.
And you’ll have to have your brain implant upgraded each year,”” he added.
The Meta CEO acknowledged that the company is studying neural interface technology in the context of the company’s expansion into the metaverse.
Zuckerberg also said the fact that Meta is focused on the development of technologies that receive brain signals but not transmit any signals back to it.
Then, he said that companies such as Neuralink which is working on devices to implant into skulls and brains, is using neural technology “super far away”.
Neuralink’s implant was designed to monitor and increase brain activity that Musk has stated could assist people manage conditions like obesity.
