Hong Kong, Aug 15 : Tesla CEO Elon Musk is the first person from outside the country to contribute an article to the publication of the Cyberspace Administration of China, the country’s top watchdog for internet usage.According to South China Morning Post, Musk’s essay that reads “Believe in technology, create an improved future” was released in the latest issue of China Wangxin magazine.
The publication “typically invites professors, government officials and officials from state-owned enterprises to submit articles.”
Musk’s Tesla produces around 25% of its earnings in China.
Tesla was the third largest automaker in mainland China in the first half of this year.It shipped nearly 200k vehicles to customers in this time according to Canalys.
As supply chain disruptions rage and the prolonged Lockdowns of Covid-19 in China, Tesla reported $16.9 billion in revenue for the second quarter (Q2) which is down from $18.8 billion in the first quarter (Q1) this year.
In May, Musk praised China and stated that “whatever people think of China the country is the leader in electric vehicles (EVs) and renewable energy.”
The magazine ‘China Wangxin’ also features an article by Ant Group CEO Eric Jing Xiandong who is one of the few individuals working in the private industry who’ve contributed to the magazine, which includes Alibaba Group Holding CEO Daniel Zhang Yong and Tencent Holdings’ CEO Pony Ma Huateng.
Ant Ant will “better assist in the overall social and economic growth of the nation and help contribute to its sustainable and inclusive digital growth,” Jing wrote.
