‘Month Of Madhu’ is set to release on the Aha streaming platform on November 3, 2023, after its successful theatrical run.The movie features Naveen Chandra and Swathi Reddy in the lead roles and tells the story of NRI Madhumathi, who lives life on her own terms.
Madhumathi’s life takes a turn when she crosses paths with Madhusudhan Rao, an alcoholic whose wife, Lekha, seeks a divorce. The film has garnered positive feedback from both audiences and critics for its realistic portrayal of characters and themes of self-love.
In an interview with Film Companion, director Srikanth Nagothi discussed the characters in ‘Month Of Madhu’ and the non-judgmental approach to storytelling. He emphasized that writers don’t have the luxury to judge their characters, as creating a character means creating their traits.
These characters are like a blank canvas, and writers can convey their opinions through them.
Srikanth Nagothi shared an interesting anecdote about Swathi Reddy, who plays Lekha.
She brought her teenage accessories from her ‘Colours’ era to add authenticity to her character’s younger portions set in 2003.Additionally, the character Lekha always sports mehendi on her hands in the 2003 sequences, symbolizing her happy and hopeful past, in contrast to her dull present.
Regarding Naveen Chandra’s role, the director explained that he advised Naveen not to act like a drunkard, as his character is intoxicated for most of the film, except for a few scenes. The challenge was to find normalcy in the character, making it a unique and engaging portrayal.
The film also features Shreya Navile, Manjula Ghattamaneni, Harsha Chemudu, Raja Chembolu, and Raja Ravindra in significant roles, adding depth to the storytelling.
