Left parties slam CM Jagan for calling Opposition, media as anti-social

The Left parties, CPI and CPM, came together on a Sunday to voice their strong disapproval of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddys recent remarks. These comments, delivered during the solemn Police Commemoration Day in Vijayawada, drew a sharp rebuke from the political duo.

Recalling the Chief Ministers words at the IGMC Stadium, where he delineated the notion of anti-social elements, he shed light on those who would misuse noble causes like freedom of the press, human rights, and democracy for their own selfish gains. The recent incidents at Angallu and Punganuru were not lost on him, as he lamented the groups that sought to disrupt the peace, deeming them as adversaries of society.

In his impassioned address to the police force, he implored them to mete out stern justice. However, in response, CPM State secretary Y Srinivasa Rao took to a platform to express his disappointment, highlighting the unfortunate misuse of the Police Commemoration Day to stifle dissenting voices, be they from the people or opposition parties.

He drew a parallel between the YSRCP governments actions and the approach of PM Narendra Modis BJP, accusing both of branding journalists as traitors and resorting to unsettling measures against media outlets like Wire and News Click.Rao urged the Chief Minister to take decisive action against those guilty of heinous acts and financial misconduct, and requested a retraction of his comments.
