Kartavya Path is a model for New India: PM Modi

New Delhi, Sep 8 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday officially inaugurated the Central Vista corridor, which was renamed Kartavya Path.
He also unveiled the statue of Subhash Chandra Bose, who was erected behind the India Gate and described it as a momentous occasion in which the country has been rid with the relics of the Colonial past.

Bose’s family members were not visible due to their absence.

“The colonial title of King’s Way has now been changed to Kartavya Path,” he declared in his remarks.

In a gesture of special thanks the Prime Minister stated that in the Republic Day function next year all the workers and labourers who been involved in Central Vista, the Central Vista project, would be his guests of honor.

“During the British period there was an image of King George V installed under the canopy which was situated just behind India Gate.

It is now substituted with Netaji’s statue” he said.

Subhash Chandra Bose, Modi said, was beyond pleasures and never craved posts.

“He was a visionary and a skilled and was a formidable personality.He was a proud part of India’s rich history.

If India had followed Bose’s example following Independence it would have risen to great levels,” the prime minister regretted.

“Netaji’s concepts and his relics were lost after Independence.

But his statue in India Gate will now be an emblem of an inspiration to the entire nation,” he added.

The newly constructed Kartavya Path, he said is a dream of New India, and will motivate people to be part of the nation.

The newly renovated Central Vista corridor consists of newly laid lawns along both sides of Kartavya Path.New pop-up fountains have been constructed on water bodies situated in the lawns that are adjacent to India Gate

In addition there are four under-passes built on both sides of Kartavya Path which are equipped with public facilities.

Additionally, on the India Gate lawns, pathways have been built to facilitate the use of pedestrians with bridges over water bodies.

Plazas have also been constructed to allow the staging of cultural events on the India Gate lawns.

Minister of Urban Development Hardeep Singh Puri and Culture Minister G.Kishan Reddy were present with Modi on the dias.

Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president J.P.Nadda, along with several cabinet ministers were also in attendance at the occasion.
