With “Dunki,” Kanika Dhillon experiences a homecoming, as she started her Bollywood journey over 16 years ago with Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment as a script supervisor and assistant director.Now, she shares the writing credit on Shah Rukh Khan’s Christmas offering, having co-written the film with director Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi.
During her four-year tenure at Khan’s production house, Kanika worked as an assistant director on “Om Shanti Om” (2007) and wrote the screenplay and dialogues for “Ra.One” (2011).Reflecting on her early days, she acknowledges Shah Rukh Khan as the best mentor she has had, learning about storytelling and the Bollywood industry from him.She praises him for his magnanimity and for instilling values that make one a better human being.
Kanika Dhillon is now venturing into production with her company Katha Pictures.As she prepares for her maiden production, “Do Patti,” featuring Kajol and Kriti Sanon, she is also involved in the sequel to “Haseen Dillruba” (2021) titled “Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba.” In the first film, she served as a writer, and in the sequel, she is taking on the roles of writer and co-producer.Kanika promises that “Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba” will be twice as wicked and unpredictable as its predecessor, with more thrilling twists.
