Raipur/Bhopal Dec 30, : .A Hindu religious leader Kalicharan Maharaj was detained from Madhya Pradesh’s Khajuraho Thursday after he allegedly made remarks about Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of Nation.
Kalicharan gave a controversial speech to a ‘dharam Sanad’, or religious gathering in Raipur, on 26 December.

Kalicharan’s comments about Mahatma Gandhi were so derogatory that Mahant Ramsundar Das, chief patron of the organization, decided to walk out and disown it.

Pramod Dubey, the Congress leader, filed an accusation against Kalicharan in a police report, accusing him, among other things, of encouraging enmity within communities.

According to police, Kalicharan booked Khajuraho’s guesthouse but didn’t stay there.

Instead, he rented a house about 25 kilometers from Khajuraho.Sources said that Kalicharan’s close friends had all turned off their phones to avoid arrest.

A team of 10 officers tracked him down and arrested him on Thursday.He was then taken back to Raipur, Chhattisgarh’s capital.

According to a Chhattisgarh senior officer, “Kalicharan was taken into custody from Madhya Pradesh in Khajuraho” and taken to Raipur.

A police officer also stated that Kalicharan would be brought before a court on Thursday night.

Kalicharan stated in a clip widely shared on social media that the goal of Islam was to “capture the nation by politics”.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi decimated the country.He added, “Salutations to Nathuram Godse who killed him.”

Kalicharan also urged people to vote for a strong Hindu leader in order to preserve Hinduism during his speech.
