Beijing 7 Aug : As Apple is preparing to launch its next generation of iPhones, a recent report claims that the forthcoming iPhone 14 could be delayed due the increasing tensions between China and Taiwan according to media reports. According to GSMArena, Apple is TSMC’s most valued customer and the company provides chips to Pegatron in China where iPhones are manufactured.
Additionally, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan has put a more severe strain on China’s relationship.
In the end as a result, the CCP has come up with new rules forbidding the reference of “Taiwan” or “Republic of China” in shipping documents.
This in turn could mean that a portion of, if not all of the equipment may be shipped back to Taiwan and delay iPhone 14 production as a consequence, as the report stated.
Additionally, Pegatron’s Vice Chairman and high-ranking executives from TSMC were seen with Pelosi during the visit, which could be the start of an intensifying trade conflict between the CCP and Taiwan in which Apple and other companies with US roots are caught in the middle, the report added.
Apple is currently in discussions with its Taiwanese partners and has asked that all labels with “Made in Taiwan” or “Republic of China” be removed or replaced.
A recent report claimed that Apple plans to ship its iPhone 14 simultaneously from factories in China and India.
On the microblogging website Twitter analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that his latest survey suggests Foxconn’s iPhone production facility in India will launch the brand new 6.1-inch iPhone 14 almost simultaneously with China for the first time in the second half of 2022 (India being one quarter or more behind in the past).
The 2014 iPhone lineup is likely to comprise the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max as well as the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.
