“The sharing potential of memes makes them popular with groups with similar interests, or even across the globe because most people are able to relate to them. Therefore, it’s not a surprise that in the past year alone around 80 percent have seen an increase in the use of memes,” said Mrigank Gutgutia the Partner at Redseer.
Memes are at the forefront of the entertainment industry.
In order to keep pace with the growing demand, meme-creation platforms are flooding the market and indicating that massive growth is in the near future for this sector.
“Ninety percent of users are open to making memes themselves, which is a sign of an enormous demand for meme-creation applications” Gutgutia claimed.
Social media are the most important source for memes, which is followed by word of mouth from family and friends.
“Social media has enabled everyone to experiment with making content, and this has set the stage for the growth of meme-making platforms and apps,” the report stated.
People love to create memes or consume memes to build their brand and for creative outlets.
“An important reason why memes so popular in short amounts of time is the fact that anyone is able to connect with themand this is excellent for branding and for marketing,” the report added.
