Indian actress Huma Qureshi has expressed her passion for cinema, both in India and abroad.Qureshi, who recently appeared in the Hollywood film Army of the Dead, is currently taking a cautious approach to selecting her next projects.
She recognises that Indian representation in cinema is on the rise, particularly at the Oscars, and is eager to take on high-quality roles in both Indian and overseas films and TV shows.
Qureshi said in an interview with Hindustan Times that she has been too busy with her recent projects to consider new opportunities.
She added that she has always been selective about the work she takes on, and this is no different when it comes to overseas opportunities.She is excited to see what new projects come her way from the West.
Qureshi also expressed pride in Indian cinema’s recent Oscar wins.The Telugu film RRR won Best Original Song, while The Elephant Whisperers won Best Documentary Short Film.
Qureshi noted that Indian cinema has captured the imagination of the West for a long time and that these wins in two very different genres are particularly worthy of celebration.
On the work front, Qureshi recently starred in the film Monica, O My Darling, in which she played the titular character.She also appeared alongside Rajkummar Rao, Sikander Kher, and Radhika Apte in the film.Her next project is Pooja Meri Jaan, opposite Mrunal Thakur.
She is also set to star in Tarla, a biopic about India’s most celebrated chef, Tarla Dalal.
