Telangana government to open 50 more Basthi Dawakhanas in the city next month.
On Thursday, Health Minister Eatala Rajender has inaugurated a Basthi Dawakhana at BS Maktha, Khairatabad.
The Minister said the Basthi Dawakhanas are ideal for needy to have a free consultation with doctor and medicines.
Keeping in mind the importance of health and hygiene for the poor, the Telangana Health Ministry has decided to open another 50 Basthi Dawakhanas in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits next month.
Mayor Bonthu Rammohan said 24 Basthi Dawakhanas have started across GHMC limits on Thursday.With this, the total number of Basthi Dawakhanas in GHMC limits have reached 224.
Earlier, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao directed the officials to plan for a total of 500 Basthi Dawakanas in GHMC limits.The officials have successfully opened 224 dawakhanas till now, which are providing great aid to the poor.
As a part of the government plan, another 50 Basthi Dawakhanas open within a month, said the Mayor.
Each Basthi Dawakhana has a doctor, nurse, medical assistant and pathology lab technicians.
According to the government reports, over 100 people visit these Basthi Dawakhanas every day on an average.
