Google Honors Sridevi’s 60th Birth Anniversary with Touching Doodle

Google honored the late Bollywood legend Sridevi on her 60th birthday with a special Google Doodle on August 13, 2023.Sridevi was born in 1963 in Tamil Nadu, India, and had a remarkable career spanning over 40 years, starring in around 300 films.

She began acting at just four years old, making her debut in the Tamil movie ‘Kandhan Karunai’ in 1967.Her versatility shone through in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films.

Sridevi became a beloved figure in the film industry, and her husband was the film producer Boney Kapoor.She is survived by her daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor.

Google Doodle, created by guest artist Bhumika Mukherjee from Mumbai, depicted Sridevi in a dance pose, capturing her iconic image.

Her success began with the hit film ‘Moondru Mudichu’ in 1976, and she further solidified her status as a national icon with the action-comedy ‘Himmatwala’ in 1983.Sridevi achieved great fame with movies like ‘Sadma,’ ‘ChaalBaz,’ ‘Mr.India,’ ‘Nagina,’ ‘Chandni,’ and ‘Lamhe.’ She stood out by headlining blockbusters without male actors, a rarity in a male-dominated industry.

After a break, she returned to acting with the 2012 movie ‘English Vinglish’ and appeared in the TV series ‘Malini Iyer’ and ‘Kaboom.’ Her exceptional contributions earned her the Padma Shri award in 2013 and the National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in ‘Mom’ in 2017.

Sridevi’s untimely passing in 2018 due to accidental drowning deeply saddened fans and the film community.Her funeral on February 28 was a testament to her significant influence on Bollywood.She will always be remembered as a trailblazer who empowered women to take on lead roles in Indian cinema.

Google aptly recognized her as one of the greatest Indian actors of her era.
