“Of those who did not charge 72 percent of respondents said that the reason was due to the station’s not working or simply being out of service,” the findings showed.

Tesla Supercharger has the highest score in the field of DC (direct current) fast chargers with an overall score of 739.The only DC fast charger brand that is above the industry average.

“Public charging continues to pose challenges to EV adoption as well as the current EV owners as well,” said Brent Gruber executive director of global automotive at J.D.Power.

“Not just is the lack of charging in public places still an issue, but EV owners are still confronted with chargers that is not working,” Gruber mentioned in the report.

The report is released at a time when many nations such as India are giving a fresh emphasis on the construction of electric vehicles to cut down on their dependence on fossil fuels.

Despite the fact that more charging stations for public use are in operation than ever before satisfaction with public Level 2 charging has declined since last year, falling to 633 (on 1,000 points) from 643 in 2021.However, satisfaction with the more speedy DC fast chargers is unchanged at 674.

“This absence of progress indicates the need to improve the process as EVs become more popular with consumers because the lack of charging publically accessible is the most common reason why vehicle buyers aren’t interested in EVs,” the report said.

Tesla Destination also ranks highest among Level 2 charge point operators with an average score of 680.

“Stations should be included to areas with gaps in areas that are heavily traveled and in high-density zones for those who don’t have access the residential charge,” said Gruber.
