‘Bujji Ila Raa’, which was released in theatres last Friday, marks Dhanraj’s debut as a lead actor.The psychological mystery thriller, by rising above the usual tropes associated with the genre, has been an able launchpad for the actor as a protagonist.
For many years, Dhanraj has shined in comedy roles, sharing screen space with multiple heroes and comedians like Brahmanandam.And, in his avatar as a lead actor, it seems he is going to further cement his position.
‘Bujji Ila Raa’ casts him as a cop who is out to nab a perverted criminal.But there is more to his multi-dimensional character.
As a husband to an unstable woman, as a father, and as a cop overwhelmed by a daunting task, Dhanraj has done his job efficiently in the author-backed role.
In the first half, we see him as a focused cop who is self-absorbed.
His character has more muscle in the second half.The audience are loving how Dhanraj has transformed from a comedian to a proper actor emoting a range of emotions.
He is very happy with the response to the film as well as his performance in it.
