Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar declared that panchayat elections in Andhra Pradesh conducted in February.

The decision has probably made sure the end of the cold war between the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Nimmagadda.The SEC said the decision has taken upon consulting all political parties and there were no legal issues regarding the polls.

Speaking to media, Nimmagadda said the Coronavirus is well contained in AP as the new cases have lessened to 753 from 10,000 a day.He praised the Andhra Pradesh governance for reducing the Corona effect in the State.He also mentioned about Telangana GHMC polls, and said, in a democracy, the election has to go as per the constitution.

The SEC has also said that the election model code of conduct would come into force four weeks before the polls.

He suggested the government and all political parties gear up for the conduct of elections.Nimmagadda said that the EC would collaboratively work with the health department owing to Covid-19 pandemic.

The SEC will ensure a hassle-free poll in the wake of Coronavirus.
