AP High court issued notices to the Union govt on VSP privatization issue

The AP High Court has issued notices to the Union government on the privatization petition of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.The court heard a petition filed by former CBI officer JD Laxminarayana challenging the decision on privatization of the Vizag steel plant.

Before filing the petition in court, Lakshminarayana wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi on the privatization of the Visakhapatnam steel plant.In a letter to Prime Minister Modi, Lakshminarayana said that the Visakhapatnam steel plant was very special to the people of AP.Yet the letter addressed several key points and alternatives.

In the letter, he mentioned that “3200 tonnes of steel used for the Sardar Vallabhai Patel statue was made in the Visakhapatnam steel industry.8,000 tons of steel was sent from here for the Atal tunnel.The Visakhapatnam steel industry provided 18,000 tonnes of steel for the Polavaram project.

” In the letter to Prime Minister Modi, Lakshminarayana reminded that Visakhapatnam Steel had produced 8500 tonnes of steel for the Nagpur-Mumbai National Highway.He suggested that the alternatives for the survival of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant must be considered for the status quo of VSP.Lakshminarayana said that by following alternatives, the steel plant can be survived.Hence, the sentiments of the Telugu people can be protected.
