Mumbai 10 August : The digital release “Darlings” with Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah and Vijay Verma will be released in Tamil as well as Telugu.The film is the debut of Alia Bhatt as producer with her production house Eternal Sunshine Productions, the other producer, Shah Rukh Khan, with his production house Red Chillies Entertainment, has decided to film the film in Tamil and Telugu as well.
Gaurav Verma, producer and COO of Red Chillies Entertainment, said: “We had the script of “Darlings” with us for some time and during the process of making it we decided to release it in several languages.The film is a particular scene that can be translated extremely easily in different languages.The process is in progress right now.”
The idea of making minor adjustments in the film to accommodate local tastes, Gaurav said, “The story remains the same, but we’ll localize the story to suit local tastes.”Darlings” was a story that was set in Mumbai however, now we’ll create a completely different environment to Tamil as well as Telugu.We will place the characters in the local language as well as their responses.”
Furthermore the ‘Darlings’ brand will also mark the entry of Red Chillies Entertainment into the Tamil and Telugu market as a stand-alone banner.
“If given the chance this has been a path we’ve always wanted to follow.”Jawan” is scheduled to be released in various languages.Its entry into the Tamil and Telugu market is not something we plan to build a new office or consolidate but it will be a script-to-script basis.”Darlings” has potential, therefore we’re going to take it there,” he added.
In his closing declaration, Gaurav said “We have been involved with the script for the last four years and we’d like to see it expand in the right manner.
Of course there will be obstacles to language but we’ll ensure that it’s done right.
“Very seldom do we see an film that is successful both commercially and critically.We’re completely overwhelmed with the reaction.It’s nice to be on the other end of the spectrum.”
