Amaravati 10 August : In an effort to modernize the welfare hostel system and keep the structures on a solid footing, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy asked for an action plan as well as a the standard operating procedure.The chief minister reviewed on Wednesday the infrastructure facilities in SC, ST, OBC and Minority Gurukul schools’ welfare hostels in the Nadu-Nedu scheme, and directed the development of the entire facility.
He also instructed officials to concentrate on quality, not of quantity, when tackling the work of revamping.
“Improve the hostels that exist by increasing the maintenance fund.
Try to put yourself in their shoes when you look at the numbers.Be sympathetic and concentrate on the qualitative aspect,” said Reddy.
The chief minister suggested the removal of hostels of rental buildings and putting the hostels permanently in owned buildings within the next year.He added that all vacancies must be filled as soon as possible.State government officials are also in the process of introducing the concept of family doctor to hostels, in order to connect the hostels with the nearby PHC.”Doctors must visit the hostel on a a monthly on a regular basis,” the chief minister added.
