South Indian film industry suffered loss of another legendary musician.Veteran music director M.S.Viswanathan died on Tuesday at a private hospital in Chennai.He was 87 and is survived by four son and three daughters.
Viswanathan had been undergoing treatment for age-related ailments from past few months.Viswanathan’s body has been kept for the public to pay homage at his residence in Chennai.Popular for composing music in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam industries, MSV started his career as composer for 1952 film TamilPanam starring Sivaji Ganeshan,
Viswanathan has done music for more than 2000 movies, including 100 Malayalam ones.
n Telugu, his compositions include “Tenali Ramakrishna”, “Anthuleni Kathaa, “Idhi Katha Kaadu”, “Aakali Rajyam” and “Maro Charitra”.
MSV and legendary filmmaker K.Balachander combination has produced several evergreen classics.MSV is a recipient of Kalamamani and several other music awards.
Viswanathan composed film music together with composer and violinist T.K.Ramamoorthy in the 1950s to 1965, as Viswanathan–Ramamoorthy and since 1965 till 2014 he has worked independently as a composer.Rest in peace MSV.
