The inspection focused on diesel buses arriving from the NCR zone states.

While most buses within the depot were found to comply with GRAP-4 rules, Rai expressed concerns about numerous private buses illegally parked outside the depot, especially those from neighbouring states.

The Transport Department officials have been instructed to conduct a special campaign against illegal parking around bus depots in Delhi and take necessary actions against buses violating rules.

A checking campaign by the Transport Department at all entry points has been ongoing since November 1.

Rai highlighted the increasing pollution from vehicles and said that all buses in Delhi are operating on CNG.

Moreover, over 900 electric buses are currently operational in the city.

Since November 1, only electric, CNG, and BS-VI (Bharat Stage VI) buses are permitted in Delhi.

Strict action will be taken against non-compliant buses.

During the surprise inspection, Rai also visited the RRTS (Regional Rapid Transit System) project site at Sarai Kale Khan.

He noted that overall, the project adheres to rules and directed officials to address minor violations.
