Andhra Pradesh Former minister and Telugu Desam Party leader Bhuma Akhila Priya on Sunday sternly warned that TD cadres will launch large-scale agitations in case party general secretary Nara Lokesh is arrested by police.
Addressing a press conference in Kurnool, she highlighted the way peaceful TDP protesters are being taken into custody by police after AP CID arrested former chief minister and TDP supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu in the skill development scam.
Akhila Priya pointed out how Telugu Desam supporters peacefully sitting on hunger strike are being taken into custody. She expressed frustration at how she and 70 party members had been arrested in the middle of the night, without regard for her being a woman.
She pointed out that all of their mobile phones had been confiscated.
The former minister said she intended to take legal action against Nandyal SP, DSP, and circle inspector for breaking her fast.
She contrasted the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu by CID and the inability to apprehend MP Avinash Reddy, who is facing a CBI charge of murder.
Akhila Priya emphasised that if Lokesh is arrested, Nara Brahmani will lead a padayatra and continue party activities, involving the entire state.
She accused the YSRCP government of systematically harassing the opposition through illegal cases and arrests.
